Shabbat Shalom

 שַׁבָּת שָׁלוֹם

----------------

 Let’s pray

--------------------------------------------

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

[10] Thy kingdom come.

Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

[11] Give us this day our daily bread.

[12] And forgive us our sins, for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us.

[13] And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever.

Amen.

[14] For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:

[15] But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Today we use the Gregorian calendar from Pope Gregory; from the 1500’s,

March 14, 2015

Spring is around the corner

March -- Mars' month

Middle English March(e)
Anglo-French March(e)
Old English
Martius
Latin
Martius "of Mars"
Latin Marti(s) "Mars" + -us (adj. suffix)
Latin
Martius mensis "month of Mars"

Martius has always had 31 days.

March was the original beginning of the year, and the time for the resumption of war.

Mars is the Roman god of war. He is identified with the Greek god Ares.

 -----------------

We acknowledge God’s calendar

We are now in the 12th Month called Adar, 22th day

Esth 3 [7] In the first month, that is, the month Nisan, in the twelfth year of king Ahasuerus, they cast Pur, that is, the lot, before Haman from day to day, and from month to month, to the twelfth month, that is, the month Adar.

אֲדָר   = “glorious” – “hidden”

Purim was a good time to reflect and remind ourselves on the many things of the God of Israel that are "hidden".

Esth.9 [1] Now in the twelfth month, that is, the month Adar…

אדר  a-dar - A primitive root; to expand, that is, be great or (figuratively) magnificent: - (become) glorious, honorable – (Purim)

(A mantle, cloak) "Hidden - Star"

----------

In Hebrew the word Esther means "star" but the root of the word Esther is satar and means "hidden".

The words “God” and “Lord” are hidden in this book of Purim.

Something or someone glorious is "hidden"

We discovered in the last few studies that the Messiah, his life, ministry and resurrection were hidden in the book of Esther.

 ----------------------------

This is a good time to reflect and remind ourselves about some Holy Days, Feasts with  Sabbaths that are not on the 7th day that are soon to come.

God’s New Year is approximately 10 days away – ha Aviv - Nisan

Approximately 3 weeks from now is Passover, the feast of unleavened bread, and first fruits.

God's New Year is coming – the 1st Month of God (ha Aviv/Nisan)

Passover – ha Aviv 14th (Yeshua is our Passover)

First day of Unleavened bread (a Sabbath) ha Aviv 15

First Fruits ha Aviv 17 (the resurrection of Messiah)

Last day of Unleavened Bread (ha Aviv 21 (a Sabbath)

Today’s topic:

The wicked Ahab  אַחְאָב  and Jezebel   אִיזֶבֶל

Prov.11

[21] Though hand join in hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished:

but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered.

---------------

Let’s start:

1Kgs.16

[23] In the thirty and first year of Asa king of Judah began Omri to reign over Israel, twelve years: six years reigned he in Tirzah.

[24] And he bought the hill Samaria of Shemer for two talents of silver, and built on the hill, and called the name of the city which he built, after the name of Shemer, owner of the hill, Samaria.

[25] But Omri wrought evil in the eyes of Yehovah, and did worse than all that were before him.

[26] For he walked in all the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and in his sin wherewith he made Israel to sin, to provoke Yehovah God of Israel to anger with their vanities.

[27] Now the rest of the acts of Omri which he did, and his might that he shewed, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

[28] So Omri slept with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria: and Ahab his son reigned in his stead.

[29] And in the thirty and eighth year of Asa king of Judah began Ahab the son of Omri to reign over Israel: and Ahab the son of Omri reigned over Israel in Samaria twenty and two years.

[30] And Ahab the son of Omri did evil in the sight of Yehovah above all that were before him.

[31] And it came to pass, as if it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, that he took to wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Zidonians, and went and served Baal, and worshipped him.

[32] And he reared up an altar for Baal in the house of Baal, which he had built in Samaria.

[33] And Ahab made a grove; and Ahab did more to provoke Yehovah God of Israel to anger than all the kings of Israel that were before him.

Hielחִיאֵל  is cursed

[34] In his days did Hiel the Bethelite build Jericho: he laid the foundation thereof in Abiram his firstborn, and set up the gates thereof in his youngest son Segub, according to the Word of Yehovah, which he spake by Joshua the son of Nun.

Josh.6 [26] And Joshua adjured them at that time, saying, Cursed be the man before Yehovah, that riseth up and buildeth this city Jericho: he shall lay the foundation thereof in his firstborn, and in his youngest son shall he set up the gates of it.

1Kgs.17   אֵלִיָּהוּ, the man of Yah

[1] And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As Yehovah God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.
[2] And the Word of Yehovah came unto him, saying,

[3] Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.

[4] And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there.

[5] So he went and did according unto the Word of Yehovah: for he went and dwelt by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.

[6] And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook.

[7] And it came to pass after a while, that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land.

[8] And the Word of Yehovah came unto him, saying,

[9] Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.

[10] So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.

[11] And as she was going to fetch it, he called to her, and said, Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thine hand.

[12] And she said, As Yehovah thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.

[13] And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son.
[14] For thus saith Yehovah God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the
cruse of oil fail, until the day that Yehovah sendeth rain upon the earth.

[15] And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days.

[16] And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the Word of Yehovah, which he spake by Elijah.

[17] And it came to pass after these things, that the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, fell sick; and his sickness was so sore, that there was no breath left in him.

[18] And she said unto Elijah, What have I to do with thee, O thou man of God? art thou come unto me to call my sin to remembrance, and to slay my son?

[19] And he said unto her, Give me thy son. And he took him out of her bosom, and carried him up into a loft, where he abode, and laid him upon his own bed.

[20] And he cried unto Yehovah, and said, Yehovah my God, hast thou also brought evil upon the widow with whom I sojourn, by slaying her son?
[21] And he stretched himself upon the child three times, and cried unto Yehovah, and said, Yehovah my God, I pray thee, let this child's soul come into him again.

[22] And Yehovah heard the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came into him again, and he revived.

[23] And Elijah took the child, and brought him down out of the chamber into the house, and delivered him unto his mother: and Elijah said, See, thy son liveth.
[24] And the woman said to Elijah,
Now by this I know that thou art a man of God, and that the Word of Yehovah in thy mouth is truth.

1Kgs.18

[1] And it came to pass after many days, that the Word of Yehovah came to Elijah in the third year, saying, Go, shew thyself unto Ahab; and I will send rain upon the earth.

[2] And Elijah went to shew himself unto Ahab. And there was a sore famine in Samaria.

עֹבַדְיָהוּ Obadiah

[3] And Ahab called Obadiah, which was the governor of his house. (Now Obadiah feared Yehovah greatly:

[4] For it was so, when Jezebel cut off the prophets of Yehovah, that Obadiah took an hundred prophets, and hid them by fifty in a cave, and fed them with bread and water.)

[5] And Ahab said unto Obadiah, Go into the land, unto all fountains of water, and unto all brooks: peradventure we may find grass to save the horses and mules alive, that we lose not all the beasts.

[6] So they divided the land between them to pass throughout it: Ahab went one way by himself, and Obadiah went another way by himself.

[7] And as Obadiah was in the way, behold, Elijah met him: and he knew him, and fell on his face, and said, Art thou that my lord Elijah?

[8] And he answered him, I am: go, tell thy lord, Behold, Elijah is here.

[9] And he said, What have I sinned, that thou wouldest deliver thy servant into the hand of Ahab, to slay me?

[10] As Yehovah thy God liveth, there is no nation or kingdom, whither my lord hath not sent to seek thee: and when they said, He is not there; he took an oath of the kingdom and nation, that they found thee not.

[11] And now thou sayest, Go, tell thy lord, Behold, Elijah is here.

[12] And it shall come to pass, as soon as I am gone from thee, that the Spirit of Yehovah shall carry thee whither I know not; and so when I come and tell Ahab, and he cannot find thee, he shall slay me: but I thy servant fear Yehovah from my youth.

[13] Was it not told my lord what I did when Jezebel slew the prophets of Yehovah, how I hid an hundred men of Yehovah's prophets by fifty in a cave, and fed them with bread and water?

[14] And now thou sayest, Go, tell thy lord, Behold, Elijah is here: and he shall slay me.

[15] And Elijah said, As Yehovah of hosts liveth, before whom I stand, I will surely shew myself unto him to day.

[16] So Obadiah went to meet Ahab, and told him: and Ahab went to meet Elijah.

[17] And it came to pass, when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said unto him, Art thou he that troubleth Israel?

[18] And he answered, I have not troubled Israel; but thou, and thy father's house, in that ye have forsaken the commandments of Yehovah, and thou hast followed Baalim.

[19] Now therefore send, and gather to me all Israel unto mount Carmel, and the prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of the groves four hundred, which eat at Jezebel's table.

[20] So Ahab sent unto all the children of Israel, and gathered the prophets together unto mount Carmel.

[21] And Elijah came unto all the people, and said,

How long halt ye between two opinions?

if Yehovah be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.

[22] Then said Elijah unto the people, I, even I only, remain a prophet of Yehovah; but Baal's prophets are four hundred and fifty men.

[23] Let them therefore give us two bullocks; and let them choose one bullock for themselves, and cut it in pieces, and lay it on wood, and put no fire under: and I will dress the other bullock, and lay it on wood, and put no fire under:

[24] And call ye on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of Yehovah: and the God that answereth by fire, let him be God. And all the people answered and said, It is well spoken.

[25] And Elijah said unto the prophets of Baal, Choose you one bullock for yourselves, and dress it first; for ye are many; and call on the name of your gods, but put no fire under.

[26] And they took the bullock which was given them, and they dressed it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even until noon, saying, O Baal, hear us.

But there was no voice, nor any that answered. And they leaped upon the altar which was made.

[27] And it came to pass at noon, that Elijah mocked them, and said, Cry aloud: for he is a god; either he is talking, or he is pursuing, or he is in a journey, or peradventure he sleepeth, and must be awaked.

[28] And they cried aloud, and cut themselves after their manner with knives and lancets, till the blood gushed out upon them.

[29] And it came to pass, when midday was past, and they prophesied until the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that there was neither voice, nor any to answer, nor any that regarded.

[30] And Elijah said unto all the people, Come near unto me. And all the people came near unto him. And he repaired the altar of Yehovah that was broken down.

[31] And Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, unto whom the Word of Yehovah came, saying, Israel shall be thy name:

[32] And with the stones he built an altar in the name of Yehovah: and he made a trench about the altar, as great as would contain two measures of seed.
[33] And he put the wood in order, and cut the bullock in pieces, and laid him on the wood, and said, Fill four barrels with water, and pour it on the burnt sacrifice, and on the wood.

[34] And he said, Do it the second time. And they did it the second time. And he said, Do it the third time. And they did it the third time.

[35] And the water ran round about the altar; and he filled the trench also with water.

[36] And it came to pass at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said,Yehovah God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that thou art God in Israel, and that I am thy servant, and that I have done all these things at thy word.

[37] Hear me, Yehovah, hear me, that this people may know that thou art Yehovah God, and that thou hast turned their heart back again.

[38] Then the fire of Yehovah fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.

[39] And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces: and they said, Yehovah, he is the God; Yehovah, he is the God.

[40] And Elijah said unto them, Take the prophets of Baal; let not one of them escape. And they took them: and Elijah brought them down to the brook Kishon, and slew them there.

[41] And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain.

[42] So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees,

[43] And said to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea. And he went up, and looked, and said, There is nothing. And he said, Go again seven times.

[44] And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man's hand. And he said, Go up, say unto Ahab, Prepare thy chariot, and get thee down, that the rain stop thee not.

[45] And it came to pass in the mean while, that the heaven was black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. And Ahab rode, and went to Jezreel.

[46] And the hand of Yehovah was on Elijah; and he girded up his loins, and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.

1Kgs.19

[1] And Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and withal how he had slain all the prophets with the sword.
[2] Then Jezebel sent a messenger unto Elijah, saying,
So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I make not thy life as the life of one of them by to morrow about this time.

[3] And when he saw that, he arose, and went for his life, and came to Beer-sheba, which belongeth to Judah, and left his servant there.

[4] But he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, Yehovah, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers.

[5] And as he lay and slept under a juniper tree, behold, then an angel touched him, and said unto him, Arise and eat.

[6] And he looked, and, behold, there was a cake baken on the coals, and a cruse of water at his head. And he did eat and drink, and laid him down again.

[7] And the angel of Yehovah came again the second time, and touched him, and said, Arise and eat; because the journey is too great for thee.

[8] And he arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that meat forty days and forty nights unto Horeb the mount of God.

[9] And he came thither unto a cave, and lodged there; and, behold, the Word of Yehovah came to him, and He said unto him, What doest thou here, Elijah?

[10] And he said, I have been very jealous for Yehovah God of hosts: for the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.

[11] And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before Yehovah. And, behold, Yehovah passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before Yehovah; but Yehovah was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but Yehovah was not in the earthquake:

[12] And after the earthquake a fire; but Yehovah was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.

[13] And it was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah?

[14] And he said, I have been very jealous for Yehovah God of hosts: because the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away

[15] And Yehovah said unto him, Go, return on thy way to the wilderness of Damascus: and when thou
comest, anoint Hazael to be king over Syria:
[16] And Jehu the son of
Nimshi shalt thou anoint to be king over Israel: and Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel-meholah shalt thou anoint to be prophet in thy room.

[17] And it shall come to pass, that him that escapeth the sword of Hazael shall Jehu slay: and him that escapeth from the sword of Jehu shall Elisha slay.

[18] Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him.

אֱלִישָׁע

[19] So he departed thence, and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen before him, and he with the twelfth: and Elijah passed by him, and cast his mantle upon him.

[20] And he left the oxen, and ran after Elijah, and said, Let me, I pray thee, kiss my father and my mother, and then I will follow thee. And he said unto him, Go back again: for what have I done to thee?

[21] And he returned back from him, and took a yoke of oxen, and slew them, and boiled their flesh with the instruments of the oxen, and gave unto the people, and they did eat. Then he arose, and went after Elijah, and ministered unto him.

1Kgs.21

[1] And it came to pass after these things, that Naboth the Jezreelite had a vineyard, which was in Jezreel, hard by the palace of Ahab king of Samaria.

[2] And Ahab spake unto Naboth, saying, Give me thy vineyard, that I may have it for a garden of herbs, because it is near unto my house: and I will give thee for it a better vineyard than it; or, if it seem good to thee, I will give thee the worth of it in money.

[3] And Naboth said to Ahab, TheYehovah forbid it me, that I should give the inheritance of my fathers unto thee.

[4] And Ahab came into his house heavy and displeased because of the word which Naboth the Jezreelite had spoken to him: for he had said, I will not give thee the inheritance of my fathers. And he laid him down upon his bed, and turned away his face, and would eat no bread.

[5] But Jezebel his wife came to him, and said unto him, Why is thy spirit so sad, that thou eatest no bread?
[6] And he said unto her, Because I spake unto
Naboth the Jezreelite, and said unto him, Give me thy vineyard for money; or else, if it please thee, I will give thee another vineyard for it: and he answered, I will not give thee my vineyard.
[7] And Jezebel his wife said unto him,
Dost thou now govern the kingdom of Israel? arise, and eat bread, and let thine heart be merry: I will give thee the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite.

[8] So she wrote letters in Ahab's name, and sealed them with his seal, and sent the letters unto the elders and to the nobles that were in his city, dwelling with Naboth.

[9] And she wrote in the letters, saying, Proclaim a fast, and set Naboth on high among the people:
[10] And set two men, sons of Belial, before him, to bear witness against him, saying, Thou didst blaspheme God and the king. And then carry him out, and stone him, that he may die.

[11] And the men of his city, even the elders and the nobles who were the inhabitants in his city, did as Jezebel had sent unto them, and as it was written in the letters which she had sent unto them.

[12] They proclaimed a fast, and set Naboth on high among the people.

[13] And there came in two men, children of Belial, and sat before him: and the men of Belial witnessed against him, even against Naboth, in the presence of the people, saying, Naboth did blaspheme God and the king.

Then they carried him forth out of the city, and stoned him with stones, that he died.

[14] Then they sent to Jezebel, saying, Naboth is stoned, and is dead.

[15] And it came to pass, when Jezebel heard that Naboth was stoned, and was dead, that Jezebel said to Ahab, Arise, take possession of the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, which he refused to give thee for money: for Naboth is not alive, but dead.

[16] And it came to pass, when Ahab heard that Naboth was dead, that Ahab rose up to go down to the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, to take possession of it.

[17] And the Word of Yehovah came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying,
[18] Arise, go down to meet Ahab king of Israel, which is in Samaria: behold, he is in the vineyard of
Naboth, whither he is gone down to possess it.

[19] And thou shalt speak unto him, saying, Thus saith Yehovah, Hast thou killed, and also taken possession?

And thou shalt speak unto him, saying, Thus saith Yehovah, In the place where dogs licked the blood of Naboth shall dogs lick thy blood, even thine.

[20] And Ahab said to Elijah, Hast thou found me, O mine enemy? And he answered, I have found thee: because thou hast sold thyself to work evil in the sight of Yehovah.

[21] Behold, I will bring evil upon thee, and will take away thy posterity, and will cut off from Ahab him that pisseth against the wall, and him that is shut up and left in Israel,

[22] And will make thine house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha the son of Ahijah, for the provocation wherewith thou hast provoked me to anger, and made Israel to sin.

[23] And of Jezebel also spake Yehovah, saying, The dogs shall eat Jezebel by the wall of Jezreel.

[24] Him that dieth of Ahab in the city the dogs shall eat; and him that dieth in the field shall the fowls of the air eat.

[25] But there was none like unto Ahab, which did sell himself to work wickedness in the sight of Yehovah, whom Jezebel his wife stirred up.

[26] And he did very abominably in following idols, according to all things as did the Amorites, whom Yehovah cast out before the children of Israel.

[27] And it came to pass, when Ahab heard those words, that he rent his clothes, and put sackcloth upon his flesh, and fasted, and lay in sackcloth, and went softly.

[28] And the Word of Yehovah came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying,
[29]
Seest thou how Ahab humbleth himself before me? because he humbleth himself before me, I will not bring the evil in his days: but in his son's days will I bring the evil upon his house.

1Kgs.22

[20] And Yehovah said, Who shall persuade Ahab, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth-gilead? And one said on this manner, and another said on that manner.

[34] …a certain man drew a bow at a venture, and smote the Ahab, king of Israel between the joints of the harness: wherefore he said unto the driver of his chariot, Turn thine hand, and carry me out of the host; for I am wounded.

[35] And the battle increased that day: and the king was stayed up in his chariot against the Syrians, and died at even: and the blood ran out of the wound into the midst of the chariot.

[36] And there went a proclamation throughout the host about the going down of the sun, saying, Every man to his city, and every man to his own country.
[37] So the king died, and was brought to Samaria; and they buried the king in Samaria.

[38] And one washed the chariot in the pool of Samaria; and the dogs licked up his blood; and they washed his armour; according unto the Word of Yehovah which he spake.

[39] Now the rest of the acts of Ahab, and all that he did, and the ivory house which he made, and all the cities that he built, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

[40] So Ahab slept with his fathers; and Ahaziah his son reigned in his stead.

Ahab, a real devil

[1] And Elisha the prophet called one of the children of the prophets, and said unto him, Gird up thy loins, and take this box of oil in thine hand, and go to Ramoth-gilead:
[2] And when thou
comest thither, look out there Jehu the son of Jehoshaphat the son of Nimshi, and go in, and make him arise up from among his brethren, and carry him to an inner chamber;

[3] Then take the box of oil, and pour it on his head, and say, Thus saith Yehovah, I have anointed thee king over Israel. Then open the door, and flee, and tarry not.

[4] So the young man, even the young man the prophet, went to Ramoth-gilead.
[5] And when he came, behold, the captains of the host were sitting; and he said, I have an errand to thee, O captain. And Jehu said,
Unto which of all us? And he said, To thee, O captain.

[6] And he arose, and went into the house; and he poured the oil on his head, and said unto him, Thus saith Yehovah God of Israel, I have anointed thee king over the people of Yehovah, even over Israel.

[7] And thou shalt smite the house of Ahab thy master, that I may avenge the blood of my servants the prophets, and the blood of all the servants of Yehovah, at the hand of Jezebel.

[8] For the whole house of Ahab shall perish: and I will cut off from Ahab him that pisseth against the wall, and him that is shut up and left in Israel:

[9] And I will make the house of Ahab like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha the son of Ahijah:

[10] And the dogs shall eat Jezebel in the portion of Jezreel, and there shall be none to bury her.

And he opened the door, and fled.

[11] Then Jehu came forth to the servants of his lord: and one said unto him, Is all well? wherefore came this mad fellow to thee? And he said unto them, Ye know the man, and his communication.

[12] And they said, It is false; tell us now. And he said, Thus and thus spake he to me, saying, Thus saith Yehovah, I have anointed thee king over Israel.
[13] Then they hasted, and took every man his garment, and put it under him on the top of the stairs, and blew with trumpets, saying, Jehu is king.

[14] So Jehu the son of Jehoshaphat the son of Nimshi conspired against Joram. (Now Joram had kept Ramoth-gilead, he and all Israel, because of Hazael king of Syria.

[15] But king Joram was returned to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds which the Syrians had given him, when he fought with Hazael king of Syria.) And Jehu said, If it be your minds, then let none go forth nor escape out of the city to go to tell it in Jezreel.

[16] So Jehu rode in a chariot, and went to Jezreel; for Joram lay there. And Ahaziah king of Judah was come down to see Joram.

[17] And there stood a watchman on the tower in Jezreel, and he spied the company of Jehu as he came, and said, I see a company. And Joram said, Take an horseman, and send to meet them, and let him say, Is it peace?

[18] So there went one on horseback to meet him, and said, Thus saith the king, Is it peace? And Jehu said, What hast thou to do with peace? turn thee behind me. And the watchman told, saying, The messenger came to them, but he cometh not again.

[19] Then he sent out a second on horseback, which came to them, and said, Thus saith the king, Is it peace? And Jehu answered, What hast thou to do with peace? turn thee behind me.

[20] And the watchman told, saying, He came even unto them, and cometh not again: and the driving is like the driving of Jehu the son of Nimshi; for he driveth furiously.

[21] And Joram said, Make ready. And his chariot was made ready. And Joram king of Israel and Ahaziah king of Judah went out, each in his chariot, and they went out against Jehu, and met him in the portion of Naboth the Jezreelite.

[22] And it came to pass, when Joram saw Jehu, that he said, Is it peace, Jehu? And he answered, What peace, so long as the whoredoms of thy mother Jezebel and her witchcrafts are so many?

[23] And Joram turned his hands, and fled, and said to Ahaziah, There is treachery, O Ahaziah.

[24] And Jehu drew a bow with his full strength, and smote Jehoram between his arms, and the arrow went out at his heart, and he sunk down in his chariot.

[25] Then said Jehu to Bidkar his captain, Take up, and cast him in the portion of the field of Naboth the Jezreelite: for remember how that, when I and thou rode together after Ahab his father, Yehovah laid this burden upon him;

[26] Surely I have seen yesterday the blood of Naboth, and the blood of his sons, saith Yehovah; and I will requite thee in this plat, saith Yehovah. Now therefore take and cast him into the plat of ground, according to the Word of Yehovah.

[27] But when Ahaziah the king of Judah saw this, he fled by the way of the garden house. And Jehu followed after him, and said, Smite him also in the chariot. And they did so at the going up to Gur, which is by Ibleam. And he fled to Megiddo, and died there.

[28] And his servants carried him in a chariot to Jerusalem, and buried him in his sepulchre with his fathers in the city of David.

[29] And in the eleventh year of Joram the son of Ahab began Ahaziah to reign over Judah.

[30] And when Jehu was come to Jezreel, Jezebel heard of it; and she painted her face, and tired her head, and looked out at a window.

[31] And as Jehu entered in at the gate, she said, Had Zimri peace, who slew his master?

[32] And he lifted up his face to the window, and said, Who is on my side? who? And there looked out to him two or three eunuchs.

[33] And he said, Throw her down. So they threw her down: and some of her blood was sprinkled on the wall, and on the horses: and he trode her under foot.

[34] And when he was come in, he did eat and drink, and said, Go, see now this cursed woman, and bury her: for she is a king's daughter.

[35] And they went to bury her: but they found no more of her than the skull, and the feet, and the palms of her hands.

[36] Wherefore they came again, and told him. And he said, This is the Word of Yehovah, which he spake by his servant Elijah the Tishbite, saying, In the portion of Jezreel shall dogs eat the flesh of Jezebel:

[37] And the carcase of Jezebel shall be as dung upon the face of the field in the portion of Jezreel; so that they shall not say, This is Jezebel.

Jezebel, a real devil

Rev.2

[18] And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write; These things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet are like fine brass;

[19] I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last to be more than the first.

[20] Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.

[21] And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not.

[22] Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds.

[23] And I will kill her children with death;

and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.

[24] But unto you I say, and unto the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak; I will put upon you none other burden.

[25] But that which ye have already hold fast till I come.

[26] And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:

[27] And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.

[28] And I will give him the morning star.

[29] He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

Let all thine enemies perish, Yah.

Let them that love Him be as the sun when he goes forth in his might.

Shabbat Shalom
