Remember: We were told
to count "Sabbaths" not omers.
An "omer" is a "sheaf" of barley
עמר omer - A dry measure of 1/10 ephah
(about 2 liters)
Lev.23 [15] And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after
the sabbath, from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven sabbaths shall be complete:
[16] Even unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat
offering unto Yehovah.
*** This Sabbath is the 7th
Sabbath of the seven
Sabbaths we were told to count.

Deut. 14[2] for
thou art an holy people unto Yehovah thy God, and Yehovah hath chosen thee to be a
peculiar people unto himself, above all the nations that are upon the earth.
Deut. 26[18] And Yehovah hath avouched thee this day to
be his peculiar people, as he hath promised
thee, and that thou shouldest keep
all his commandments;
Exod. 19 [6] And ye
shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy
nation.
1 Pet. 2 [9] But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a
peculiar people; that ye should shew forth

Tit. 2[14] Yeshua, who gave himself for us, that
he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

Exod.32
[31] And Moses returned unto
Yehovah, and said, Oh, this people have sinned a great sin, and have made them gods of gold
A physical reminder
Num.15
[32]
And while the
children of Israel were in the wilderness, they found
a man that gathered sticks upon the sabbath day.
[33] And they that found him gathering sticks brought him unto
Moses and Aaron, and unto all the congregation.
[34] And they put him in
ward, because it was not declared what should be done to him.
[35] And Yehovah said unto
Moses, The man shall be surely put to death: all the congregation shall stone
him with stones without the camp.
[36] And all the
congregation brought him without the camp, and stoned him with stones, and he
died; as Yehovah commanded Moses.
[37] And Yehovah spake unto
Moses, saying,
[38] Speak unto the
children of Israel, and bid them that they make them fringes in the borders of
their garments throughout their generations, and that they put upon the fringe
of the borders a ribband of blue:
[39] And it shall be unto
you for a fringe, that ye may look upon it, and remember all the commandments
of Yehovah, and do them; and that ye seek not after
your own heart and your own eyes, after which ye use to go a whoring:
[40] That ye may remember, and do all my commandments, and be
holy unto your God.
[41] I am Yehovah your God,
which brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: I am Yehovah your
God.
Then we have
Jeroboam:
1Kgs.12
[1] And Rehoboam went to Shechem: for all Israel
were come to Shechem to make him king.
[2] And it came to pass, when Jeroboam the son
of Nebat, who was yet in Egypt, heard of it, (for he was fled from the presence
of king Solomon, and Jeroboam dwelt in Egypt;)
[3] That they sent and called him. And Jeroboam
and all the congregation of Israel came, and spake unto Rehoboam, saying,
[4] Thy father made our yoke grievous: now therefore make thou the grievous
service of thy father, and his heavy yoke which he put upon us, lighter, and we
will serve thee.
[5] And he said unto them, Depart yet for three
days, then come again to me. And the people departed.
[6] And king Rehoboam consulted with the old
men, that stood before Solomon his father while he yet lived, and said, How do
ye advise that I may answer this people?
[7] And they spake unto him, saying, If thou
wilt be a servant unto this people this day, and wilt serve them, and answer
them, and speak good words to them, then they will be thy servants for ever.
[8] But he forsook the counsel of the old men,
which they had given him, and consulted with the young men that were grown up
with him, and which stood before him:[9] And he said unto them, What counsel
give ye that we may answer this people, who have spoken to me, saying, Make the
yoke which thy father did put upon us lighter?
[10] And the young men that were grown up with
him spake unto him, saying, Thus shalt thou speak unto this people that spake
unto thee, saying, Thy father made our yoke heavy, but make thou it lighter
unto us; thus shalt thou say unto them, My little finger shall be thicker than
my father's loins.
[11] And now whereas my father did lade you with
a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke: my father hath chastised you with whips,
but I will chastise you with scorpions.
[12] So Jeroboam and all the people came to
Rehoboam the third day, as the king had appointed, saying, Come to me again the
third day.
[13] And the king answered the people roughly,
and forsook the old men's counsel that they gave him;[14] And spake to them
after the counsel of the young men, saying, My father made your yoke heavy, and
I will add to your yoke: my father also chastised you with whips, but I will
chastise you with scorpions.
[15] Wherefore the king hearkened not unto the
people; for the cause was from Yehovah, that he might perform his saying, which
Yehovah spake by Ahijah the Shilonite unto Jeroboam the son of Nebat.
[16] So when all Israel saw that the king
hearkened not unto them, the people answered the king, saying, What portion
have we in David? neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse: to your
tents, O Israel: now see to thine own house, David. So Israel departed unto
their tents.
[17] But as for the children of Israel which
dwelt in the cities of Judah, Rehoboam reigned over them.
[18] Then king Rehoboam sent Adoram, who was
over the tribute; and all Israel stoned him with stones, that he died.
Therefore king Rehoboam made speed to get him up to his chariot, to flee to
Jerusalem.
[19] So Israel rebelled against the house of
David unto this day.
[20] And it came to pass, when all Israel heard that Jeroboam was come again,
that they sent and called him unto the congregation, and made him king over all
Israel: there was none that followed the house of David, but the tribe of Judah
only.
[21] And when Rehoboam was come to Jerusalem, he
assembled all the house of Judah, with the tribe of Benjamin, an hundred and
fourscore thousand chosen men, which were warriors, to fight against the house
of Israel, to bring the kingdom again to Rehoboam the son of Solomon.
[22] But the word of God came unto Shemaiah the
man of God, saying,
[23] Speak unto Rehoboam, the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and unto all the
house of Judah and Benjamin, and to the remnant of the people, saying,[24] Thus
saith Yehovah, Ye shall not go up, nor fight against your brethren the children
of Israel: return every man to his house; for this thing is from me. They
hearkened therefore to the word of Yehovah, and returned to depart, according
to the word of Yehovah.
[25] Then Jeroboam
built Shechem in mount Ephraim, and dwelt therein; and went out from thence,
and built Penuel.
[26] And Jeroboam said
in his heart, Now shall the kingdom return to the house of David:[27] If
this people go up to do sacrifice in the house of Yehovah at Jerusalem, then
shall the heart of this people turn again unto
their lord, even unto Rehoboam king of Judah, and they shall kill me, and go
again to Rehoboam king of Judah.
[28] Whereupon the king Jeroboam
took counsel, and made two calves of gold, and said
unto them, It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem: behold thy gods, O
Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.
[29] And he set the one in Bethel, and the other put he in Dan.
[30] And this thing
became a sin:
for the people went to worship before
the one, even unto Dan.
[31] And he, Jeroboam
made an house of high places, and made priests of the lowest of the people, which were not of
the sons of Levi.
[32] And Jeroboam
ordained a feast in the eighth month, on the fifteenth day of the month,
like unto the feast that is in Judah, and he offered upon the altar.
So did he, Jeroboam
in Bethel, sacrificing unto the calves that he had made: and he placed in Bethel the priests
of the high places which he had made.
[33] So he Jeroboam
offered upon the altar which he Jeroboam had
made in Bethel the fifteenth day of the eighth month, even in the month which
he Jeroboam had devised
of his own heart; and ordained a feast
unto the children of Israel: and he offered upon the altar, and burnt incense.
2Kgs.17
[1] In the twelfth year of
Ahaz king of Judah began Hoshea the son of Elah to reign in Samaria over Israel
nine years.
[2] And he did that which was evil in the sight of Yehovah,
but not as the kings of Israel that were before him.
[3] Against him came up
Shalmaneser king of Assyria; and Hoshea became his servant, and gave him
presents.
[4] And the king of
Assyria found conspiracy in Hoshea: for he had sent messengers to So king of
Egypt, and brought no present to the king of Assyria, as he had done year by
year: therefore the king of Assyria shut him up, and bound him in prison.
[5] Then the king of
Assyria came up throughout all the land, and went up to Samaria, and besieged
it three years.
[6] In the ninth year of
Hoshea the king of Assyria took Samaria, and carried Israel away into Assyria,
and placed them in Halah and in Habor by the river of Gozan, and in the cities
of the Medes.
[7] For so it was, that the children of Israel had sinned against Yehovah their God,
which had brought them up out of the land of Egypt, from under the hand of
Pharoah king of Egypt, and had feared other gods,[8] And walked in the
statutes of the heathen, whom Yehovah cast out from before the children of
Israel, and of the kings of Israel, which they had made.
[9] And the children of
Israel did secretly those
things that were not right against Yehovah their God, and they built
them high places in all their cities, from the tower of the watchmen to the
fenced city.
[10] And they set them up images and groves in every high hill,
and under every green tree:[11]
And there they burnt incense in all the high places, as did the heathen whom Yehovah
carried away before them; and wrought wicked things to provoke Yehovah to
anger:[12] For they served idols,
whereof Yehovah had said unto them, Ye shall not do this thing.
[13] Yet Yehovah testified
against Israel, and against Judah, by all the prophets, and by all the seers,
saying, Turn ye from your evil ways, and keep my commandments and my statutes,
according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to
you by my servants the prophets.
[14] Notwithstanding they would not hear, but
hardened their necks, like to the neck of their fathers, that did not believe
in Yehovah their God.
[15] And they rejected His statutes, and His covenant
that He made with their fathers, and His testimonies which He
testified against them; and they followed vanity,
and became vain, and went after the heathen that were
round about them, concerning whom Yehovah had
charged them, that they should not do like them.
[16] And they left all the commandments of Yehovah their God, and made
them molten images, even two calves, and made a grove, and worshipped all the
host of heaven, and served Baal.
[17] And they caused their
sons and their daughters to pass through the fire, and used divination and
enchantments, and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of Yehovah, to
provoke him to anger.
[18] Therefore Yehovah was
very angry with Israel, and removed them out of his sight: there was none left
but the tribe of Judah only.
[19] Also Judah kept not the commandments of Yehovah their God,
but walked in the statutes of Israel which they made.
[20] And Yehovah rejected
all the seed of Israel, and afflicted them, and delivered them into the hand of
spoilers, until he had cast them out of his sight.
[21] For he rent Israel
from the house of David; and they made Jeroboam the son of Nebat king: and Jeroboam drave Israel from following Yehovah, and made them sin a great sin.
[22] For the children of Israel walked in all the sins of Jeroboam which he
did; they departed not from them;[23] Until Yehovah removed Israel out of his sight,
as he had said by all his servants the prophets.
So was Israel
carried away out of their own land to Assyria unto this day.
[24] And the king of
Assyria brought men from Babylon, and from Cuthah, and from Ava, and from
Hamath, and from Sepharvaim, and placed them in the cities of Samaria instead of the children of Israel: and they possessed
Samaria, and dwelt in the cities thereof.
[25] And so it was at the
beginning of their dwelling there, that they feared not
Yehovah: therefore Yehovah sent lions among them,
which slew some of them.
[26] Wherefore they spake
to the king of Assyria, saying, The nations which thou hast removed, and placed
in the cities of Samaria, know not the manner of the God of the land: therefore
he hath sent lions among them, and, behold, they slay them, because they know
not the manner of the God of the land.
[27] Then the king of
Assyria commanded, saying, Carry thither one of the
priests whom ye brought from thence; and let them go and dwell there,
and let him teach them the manner of the God of the
land.
[28] Then one of the
priests whom they had carried away from Samaria came and dwelt in Bethel, and taught them how they should fear Yehovah.
[29] Howbeit every nation made gods of their own, and put them in the houses of
the high places which the Samaritans had made,
every nation in their cities wherein they dwelt.
[30] And the men of Babylon
made Succoth-benoth, and the men of Cuth made Nergal, and the men of Hamath
made Ashima,[31] And the Avites made
Nibhaz and Tartak, and the Sepharvites burnt their children in fire to
Adrammelech and Anammelech, the gods of Sepharvaim.
[32] So they feared Yehovah, and made unto themselves of the
lowest of them priests of the high places, which sacrificed for them in the
houses of the high places.
[33] They feared Yehovah, and served their own gods, after the
manner of the nations whom they carried away from thence.
[34] Unto this day they do after the former manners: they fear not
Yehovah, neither do they after their statutes, or after their ordinances, or
after the law and commandment which Yehovah commanded the children of Jacob,
whom he named Israel;[35]
With whom Yehovah had made a covenant, and charged them saying, Ye shall not
fear other gods, nor bow yourselves to them, nor serve them, nor sacrifice to
them:[36] But Yehovah, who
brought you up out of the land of Egypt with great power and a stretched out
arm, him shall ye fear, and him shall ye worship, and to him shall ye do
sacrifice.
[37] And the statutes, and
the ordinances, and the law, and the commandment, which he wrote for you, ye
shall observe to do for evermore; and ye shall not fear other gods.
[38] And the
covenant that I have made with you ye shall not forget; neither shall ye fear
other gods.
[39] But Yehovah
your God ye shall fear; and he shall deliver you out of the hand of all your
enemies.
[40] Howbeit they
did not hearken, but they did after their former manner.
[41] So these
nations feared Yehovah, and served their graven images, both their children,
and their children's children: as did their fathers, so do they unto this day.
The Prophets
Jer.6
[16] Thus saith Yehovah,
Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good
way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.
Jer.9
[1] Oh that my head were
waters, and mine eyes a fountain of tears, that I might weep day and night for
the slain of the daughter of my people!
[2] Oh that I had in the
wilderness a lodging place of wayfaring men; that I might leave my people, and
go from them! for they be all adulterers, an assembly
of treacherous men.
[3] And they bend their
tongues like their bow for lies: but they are not valiant for the truth upon the earth; for
they proceed from evil to evil, and they know
not me, saith Yehovah.
[4] Take ye heed every one
of his neighbour, and trust ye not in any brother: for every brother will
utterly supplant, and every neighbour will walk with slanders.
[5] And they will deceive
every one his neighbour, and will not speak the truth: they have taught their
tongue to speak lies, and weary themselves to commit iniquity.
[6] Thine habitation is in
the midst of deceit; through deceit they refuse to know me, saith Yehovah.
[7] Therefore thus saith Yehovah
of hosts, Behold, I will melt them, and try them; for how shall I do for the
daughter of my people?
[8] Their tongue is as an
arrow shot out; it speaketh deceit: one speaketh peaceably to his neighbour
with his mouth, but in heart he layeth his wait.
[9] Shall I not visit them
for these things? saith Yehovah: shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation
as this?
[10] For the mountains will
I take up a weeping and wailing, and for the habitations of the wilderness a
lamentation, because they are burned up, so that none can pass through them;
neither can men hear the voice of the cattle; both the fowl of the heavens and
the beast are fled; they are gone.
[11] And I will make
Jerusalem heaps, and a den of dragons; and I will make the cities of Judah
desolate, without an inhabitant.
[12] Who is the wise man,
that may understand this? and who is he to whom the mouth of Yehovah hath
spoken, that he may declare it, for what the land perisheth and is burned up
like a wilderness, that none passeth through?
[13] And Yehovah saith, Because they have forsaken my law which I set before
them, and have not obeyed my voice, neither walked
therein;
[14] But have walked after the imagination of their own heart, and after Baalim,
which their fathers taught them:
[15] Therefore thus saith Yehovah
of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will feed them, even this people, with
wormwood, and give them water of gall to drink.
[16] I will scatter them
also among the heathen, whom neither they nor their fathers have known: and I
will send a sword after them, till I have consumed them.
Jer.17 [9] The heart is deceitful above all
things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
Jer.23
[1] Woe be unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the
sheep of my pasture! saith Yehovah.
[2] Therefore thus saith Yehovah
God of Israel against the pastors that feed my people; Ye have scattered my
flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them: behold, I will visit
upon you the evil of your doings, saith Yehovah.
[3] And I will gather the
remnant of my flock out of all countries whither I have driven them, and will
bring them again to their folds; and they shall be fruitful and increase.
[4] And I will set up shepherds over
them which shall feed them: and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed,
neither shall they be lacking, saith Yehovah.
[5] Behold, the
days come, saith Yehovah, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and
a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the
earth.
[6] In his days Judah
shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he
shall be called, YEHOVAH OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.
[7] Therefore, behold, the
days come, saith Yehovah, that they shall no more say, Yehovah liveth, which
brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt;
[8] But, Yehovah liveth,
which brought up and which led the seed of the house of Israel out of the north
country, and from all countries whither I had driven them; and they shall dwell
in their own land.
[9] Mine heart within me
is broken because of the prophets; all my bones shake; I am like a drunken man,
and like a man whom wine hath overcome, because of Yehovah, and because of the
words of his holiness.
[10] For the land is full
of adulterers; for because of swearing the land mourneth; the pleasant places
of the wilderness are dried up, and their course is evil, and their force is
not right.
[11] For both prophet and priest are profane; yea, in my house
have I found their wickedness, saith Yehovah.
[12] Wherefore their way
shall be unto them as slippery ways in the darkness: they shall be driven on,
and fall therein: for I will bring evil upon them, even the year of their
visitation, saith Yehovah.
[13] And I have seen folly
in the prophets of Samaria; they prophesied in Baal, and caused my people
Israel to err.
[14] I have seen also in
the prophets of Jerusalem an horrible thing: they commit adultery, and walk in
lies: they strengthen also the hands of evildoers, that none doth return from
his wickedness: they are all of them unto me as Sodom, and the inhabitants
thereof as Gomorrah.
[15] Therefore thus saith Yehovah
of hosts concerning the prophets; Behold, I will feed them with wormwood, and
make them drink the water of gall: for from the prophets of Jerusalem is
profaneness gone forth into all the land.
[16] Thus saith Yehovah of
hosts, Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you: they
make you vain: they speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth
of Yehovah.
[17] They say still unto
them that despise me, Yehovah hath said, Ye shall have peace; and they say unto
every one that walketh after the imagination of his own heart, No evil shall
come upon you.
[18] For who hath stood in
the counsel of Yehovah, and hath perceived and heard his word? who hath marked
his word, and heard it?
[19] Behold, a
whirlwind of Yehovah is gone forth in fury, even a grievous whirlwind: it shall
fall grievously upon the head of the wicked.
[20] The anger of Yehovah
shall not return, until he have executed, and till he have performed the
thoughts of his heart: in the latter days ye shall consider it perfectly.
[21] I have not
sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they
prophesied.
[22] But if they had stood
in my counsel, and had caused my people to hear my words, then they should have
turned them from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings.
[23] Am I a God at hand,
saith Yehovah, and not a God afar off?
[24] Can any hide himself
in secret places that I shall not see him? saith Yehovah. Do not I fill heaven
and earth? saith Yehovah.
[25] I have heard what the
prophets said, that prophesy lies in my name, saying, I
have dreamed, I have dreamed.
[26] How long shall this be
in the heart of the prophets that prophesy lies?
yea, they are prophets of the deceit of their own heart;
[27] Which think to cause
my people to forget my name by their dreams which they tell every man to his
neighbour, as their fathers have forgotten my name for Baal.
[28] The prophet that hath
a dream, let him tell a dream; and he that hath my word, let him speak my word
faithfully. What is the chaff to the wheat? saith Yehovah.
[29] Is not my word like as
a fire? saith Yehovah; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?
[30] Therefore, behold, I am against the prophets, saith Yehovah, that steal my words
every one from his neighbour.
[31] Behold, I am against the prophets, saith Yehovah, that use their
tongues, and say, He saith.
[32] Behold, I am against them that prophesy false dreams, saith
Yehovah,
and
do tell them, and cause my people to err by their lies, and by their
lightness; yet I sent them not, nor commanded them: therefore they shall not
profit this people at all, saith Yehovah.
[33] And when this people,
or the prophet, or a priest, shall ask thee, saying, What is the burden of Yehovah?
thou shalt then say unto them, What burden? I will even forsake you, saith Yehovah.
[34] And as for the
prophet, and the priest, and the people, that shall say, The burden of Yehovah,
I will even punish that man and his house.
[35] Thus shall ye say
every one to his neighbour, and every one to his brother, What hath Yehovah
answered? and, What hath Yehovah spoken?
[36] And the burden of Yehovah
shall ye mention no more: for every man's word shall be his burden; for ye have perverted the words of the living God, of Yehovah of
hosts our God.
[37] Thus shalt thou say to
the prophet, What hath Yehovah answered thee? and, What hath Yehovah spoken?
[38] But since ye say, The
burden of Yehovah; therefore thus saith Yehovah; Because ye say this word, The
burden of Yehovah, and I have sent unto you, saying, Ye shall not say, The
burden of Yehovah;
[39] Therefore, behold, I,
even I, will utterly forget you, and I will forsake you, and the city that I
gave you and your fathers, and cast you out of my presence:
[40] And I will bring an
everlasting reproach upon you, and a perpetual shame, which shall not be
forgotten.
Ezek.33
[30] Also, thou son of man, the children of thy
people still are talking against thee by the walls and in the doors of the
houses, and speak one to another, every one to his brother, saying, Come, I
pray you, and hear what is the word that cometh forth from Yehovah.
[31] And they come unto thee as the people
cometh, and they sit before thee as my people, and they hear thy words, but they will not do them: for with their mouth they
shew much love, but their heart goeth after their
covetousness.
[32] And, lo, thou art unto them as a very
lovely song of one that hath a pleasant voice, and can play well on an
instrument: for they hear thy words, but they do them
not.
[33] And when this cometh to pass, (lo, it will
come,) then shall they know that a prophet hath been among them.
We talked to people that said these things recently…
Neh. 6 [8] Then I
sent unto him, saying, There are no such things done as thou sayest, but thou feignest them out of thine own heart.
[9] For they all made us afraid, saying, Their hands shall be weakened from the
work, that it be not done. Now therefore, O God,
strengthen my hands.
Psalm 81 [8]
Hear, O my people, and I will testify unto thee: O Israel, if thou wilt hearken
unto me;
[9] There shall no strange god be in thee; neither shalt thou worship any
strange god.
[10] I am Yehovah thy God, which brought thee
out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.
[11] But my people would
not hearken to my voice; and Israel would none of me.
[12] So I gave them up unto their own hearts' lust: and they
walked in their own counsels.
[13] Oh that my people had hearkened unto me,
and Israel had walked in my ways!
[14] I should soon have subdued their enemies,
and turned my hand against their adversaries.
[15] The haters of Yehovah should have submitted
themselves unto him: but their time should have endured for ever.
[16] He should have fed them also with the
finest of the wheat: and with honey out of the rock should I have satisfied
thee.
