Sad to say, people follow anything
---------------------------------------
Today’s Topic:
Who are you following?
Which person?
Which multitude?
In this study below,
please find a few chapters.
Most chapters are
pertaining to people that forsook Yehovah.
Reading many chapters in
scripture this morning made me sad to realize the world is even worse today.
Let’s start:
1Sam.12 [14] If ye will
fear Yehovah, and serve him, and obey his voice, and not rebel against the
commandment of Yehovah, then shall both ye and also the king that reigneth over
you continue following Yehovah your God:
[15] But if ye will not obey the voice of Yehovah, but rebel against the
commandment of Yehovah, then shall the hand of Yehovah be against you, as it
was against your fathers.
1Kgs.9
[6] But if ye shall at all turn from following me, ye or
your children, and will not keep my commandments and my statutes which I have
set before you, but go and serve other gods, and worship them:
[7] Then will I cut off Israel out of the
land which I have given them; and this house, which I have hallowed
for my name, will I cast out of my sight; and Israel shall be a proverb and a
byword among all people:
[8] And at this house, which is high, every one that passeth by it shall
be astonished, and shall hiss; and they shall say, Why hath Yehovah done thus
unto this land, and to this house?
[9] And they shall answer, Because they forsook Yehovah their God, who
brought forth their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and have taken hold upon
other gods, and have worshipped them, and served them: therefore hath Yehovah
brought upon them all this evil.
[1] In the twelfth
year of Ahaz king of Judah began Hoshea the son of Elah to reign in Samaria
over Israel nine years.
[2] And he did that which was evil in the
sight of Yehovah, but not as the kings of Israel that were before
him.
[3] Against him came up Shalmaneser king of Assyria; and Hoshea became
his servant, and gave him presents.
[4] And the king of Assyria found conspiracy in Hoshea: for he had sent
messengers to So king of Egypt, and brought no present to the king of Assyria,
as he had done year by year: therefore the king of Assyria shut him up, and
bound him in prison.
[5] Then the king of Assyria came up throughout all the land, and went
up to Samaria, and besieged it three years.
[6] In the ninth year of Hoshea the king of Assyria took Samaria, and
carried Israel away into Assyria, and placed them in Halah and in Habor by the
river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes.
[7] For so it was, that the children of Israel had sinned against Yehovah
their God, which had brought them up out of the land of Egypt, from under the
hand of Pharoah king of Egypt, and had feared other gods,
[8] And walked in the statutes of the heathen, whom Yehovah cast out
from before the children of Israel, and of the kings of Israel, which they had
made.
[9] And the children of Israel did secretly those
things that were not right against Yehovah their God, and they built them high
places in all their cities, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city.
[10] And they set them up images and groves in every
high hill, and under every green tree:
[11] And there they burnt incense in all the high
places, as did the heathen whom Yehovah carried away before them; and wrought
wicked things to provoke Yehovah to anger:
[12] For they served idols, whereof Yehovah had said unto them, Ye shall not do
this thing.
[13] Yet Yehovah testified against Israel, and against Judah, by all the
prophets, and by all the seers, saying, Turn ye from
your evil ways, and keep my commandments and my statutes, according
to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by my
servants the prophets.
[14] Notwithstanding they would not hear, but hardened their necks, like to the neck of their fathers, that did not believe in Yehovah their God.
[15] And they rejected His statutes, and His
covenant that he made with their fathers, and his testimonies which
he testified against them; and they followed vanity, and became vain, and went
after the heathen that were round about them, concerning whom Yehovah had
charged them, that they should not do like them.
[16] And they left all the commandments of Yehovah
their God, and made them molten images, even two calves, and made a
grove, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served Baal.
[17] And they caused their sons and their daughters
to pass through the fire, and used divination and enchantments, and sold
themselves to do evil in the sight of Yehovah, to provoke him to anger.
[18] Therefore Yehovah was very angry with Israel, and removed them out
of his sight: there was none left but the tribe of Judah only.
[19] Also Judah kept not the commandments of Yehovah their God, but
walked in the statutes of Israel which they made.
[20] And Yehovah rejected all the seed of Israel, and afflicted them,
and delivered them into the hand of spoilers, until he had cast them out of his
sight.
[21] For he rent Israel from the house of David; and they made Jeroboam
the son of Nebat king: and Jeroboam drave Israel
from following Yehovah, and made them sin a great sin.
[22] For the children of Israel walked in all
the sins of Jeroboam which he did; they
departed not from them;
[23] Until Yehovah removed Israel out of his sight, as he had said by
all his servants the prophets. So was Israel carried away out of their own land
to Assyria unto this day.
[24] And the king of Assyria brought men from Babylon, and from Cuthah,
and from Ava, and from Hamath, and from Sepharvaim, and placed them in the
cities of Samaria instead of the children of Israel: and they possessed
Samaria, and dwelt in the cities thereof.
[25] And so it was at the beginning of their dwelling there, that they feared not Yehovah: therefore Yehovah sent lions among
them, which slew some of them.
[26] Wherefore they spake to the king of Assyria, saying, The nations
which thou hast removed, and placed in the cities of Samaria, know not the
manner of the God of the land: therefore he hath sent lions among them, and,
behold, they slay them, because they know not the manner of the God of the
land.
[27] Then the king of Assyria commanded, saying, Carry thither one of
the priests whom ye brought from thence; and let them go and dwell there, and
let him teach them the manner of the God of the land.
[28] Then one of the priests whom they had carried away from Samaria
came and dwelt in Bethel, and taught them how they should fear Yehovah.
[29] Howbeit every nation made gods of their
own, and put them in the houses of the high places which the Samaritans
had made, every nation in their cities wherein they dwelt.
[30] And the men of Babylon made Succoth-benoth, and the men of Cuth
made Nergal, and the men of Hamath made Ashima,
[31] And the Avites made Nibhaz and Tartak, and the Sepharvites burnt
their children in fire to Adrammelech and Anammelech, the gods of Sepharvaim.
[32] So they feared Yehovah, and made unto
themselves of the lowest of them priests of the high places, which sacrificed
for them in the houses of the high places.
[33] They feared Yehovah, and served their own
gods, after the manner of the nations whom they carried away from thence.
[34] Unto this day they do after the former manners: they fear not Yehovah, neither do they after their statutes, or after their
ordinances, or after the law and commandment which Yehovah commanded the
children of Jacob, whom he named Israel;
[35] With whom Yehovah had made a covenant, and charged them saying, Ye
shall not fear other gods, nor bow yourselves to them, nor serve them, nor
sacrifice to them:
[36] But Yehovah, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt with great
power and a stretched out arm, him shall ye fear, and him shall ye worship, and
to him shall ye do sacrifice.
[37] And the statutes, and the ordinances, and the law, and the
commandment, which he wrote for you, ye shall observe to do for evermore; and ye
shall not fear other gods.
[38] And the covenant that I have made with you ye shall not forget;
neither shall ye fear other gods.
[39] But Yehovah your God ye shall fear; and he shall deliver you out of
the hand of all your enemies.
[40] Howbeit they did not hearken, but they
did after their former manner.
[41] So these nations feared Yehovah, and served their graven images, both
their children, and their children's children: as did their fathers, so do they
unto this day.

[1] The word that came
to Jeremiah from Yehovah, saying,
[2] Stand in the gate of Yehovah's house, and proclaim there this word,
and say, Hear the word of Yehovah, all ye of Judah, that enter in at these
gates to worship Yehovah.
[3] Thus saith Yehovah of hosts, the God of Israel,
Amend your ways and your doings, and I will cause you to dwell in this place.
[4] Trust ye not in lying words, saying, The temple of Yehovah, The temple of Yehovah,
The temple of Yehovah, are these.
[5] For if ye throughly amend your ways and your doings; if ye throughly
execute judgment between a man and his neighbour;
[6] If ye oppress not the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and shed not
innocent blood in this place, neither walk after other gods to your hurt:
[7] Then will I cause you to dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to
your fathers, for ever and ever.
[8] Behold, ye trust in lying words, that
cannot profit.
[9] Will ye steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and
burn incense unto Baal, and walk after other gods whom ye know not;
[10] And come and stand before me in this house, which is called by my
name, and say, We are delivered to do all these abominations?
[11] Is this house, which is called by my name, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, even I
have seen it, saith Yehovah.
[12] But go ye now unto my place which was in Shiloh, where I set my
name at the first, and see what I did to it for the wickedness of my people
Israel.
[13] And now, because ye have done all these works, saith Yehovah, and I
spake unto you, rising up early and speaking, but ye heard not; and I called
you, but ye answered not;
[14] Therefore will I do unto this house, which is called by my name,
wherein ye trust, and unto the place which I gave to you and to your fathers,
as I have done to Shiloh.
[15] And I will cast you out of my sight, as
I have cast out all your brethren, even the whole seed of Ephraim.
[16] Therefore pray not thou for this people,
neither lift up cry nor prayer for them, neither make intercession to me: for I
will not hear thee.
[17] Seest thou not what they do in the cities of Judah and in the streets
of Jerusalem?
[18] The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the
women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of
heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may
provoke me to anger.
[19] Do they provoke me to anger? saith Yehovah: do they not provoke
themselves to the confusion of their own faces?
[20] Therefore thus
saith the Lord Yehovah; Behold, mine anger and my fury shall be poured out upon
this place, upon man, and upon beast, and upon the trees of the field, and upon
the fruit of the ground; and it shall burn, and shall not be quenched.
[21] Thus saith Yehovah of hosts, the God of Israel; Put your burnt
offerings unto your sacrifices, and eat flesh.
[22] For I spake not unto your fathers, nor commanded them in the day
that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings or
sacrifices:
[23] But this thing commanded I them,
saying, Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people: and
walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well unto
you.
[24] But they hearkened not, nor inclined
their ear, but walked in the counsels and in the imagination of their evil
heart, and went backward, and not forward.
[25] Since the day that your fathers came forth out of the land of Egypt
unto this day I have even sent unto you all my servants the prophets, daily
rising up early and sending them:
[26] Yet they hearkened not unto me, nor
inclined their ear, but hardened their neck: they did worse than their fathers.
[27] Therefore thou shalt speak all these words unto them; but they will
not hearken to thee: thou shalt also call unto them; but they will not answer
thee.
[28] But thou shalt say unto them, This is a
nation that obeyeth not the voice of Yehovah their God, nor receiveth
correction: truth is perished, and is cut off from their mouth.
[29] Cut off thine hair, O Jerusalem, and cast it away, and take up a
lamentation on high places; for Yehovah hath rejected and forsaken the generation
of his wrath.
[30] For the children of Judah have done evil in my sight, saith Yehovah:
they have set their abominations in the house which is called by my name, to
pollute it.
[31] And they have built the high places of Tophet, which is in the
valley of the son of Hinnom, to burn their sons and their daughters in the
fire; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my heart.
[32] Therefore, behold, the days come, saith Yehovah, that it shall no
more be called Tophet, nor the valley of the son of Hinnom, but the valley of
slaughter: for they shall bury in Tophet, till there be no place.
[33] And the carcases of this people shall be meat for the fowls of the
heaven, and for the beasts of the earth; and none shall fray them away.
[34] Then will I cause to cease from the
cities of Judah, and from the streets of Jerusalem, the voice of mirth, and the
voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride: for
the land shall be desolate.
[1] And it came to
pass in the sixth year, in the sixth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I
sat in mine house, and the elders of Judah sat before me, that the hand of the
Lord Yehovah fell there upon me.
[2] Then I beheld, and lo a likeness as the appearance of fire: from the
appearance of his loins even downward, fire; and from his loins even upward, as
the appearance of brightness, as the colour of amber.
[3] And he put forth the form of an hand, and took me by a lock of mine
head; and the spirit lifted me up between the earth and the heaven, and brought
me in the visions of God to Jerusalem, to the door of the inner gate that
looketh toward the north; where was the seat of the
image of jealousy, which provoketh to jealousy.
[4] And, behold, the glory of the God of Israel was
there, according to the vision that I saw in the plain.
[5] Then said he unto me, Son of man, lift up thine eyes now the way
toward the north. So I lifted up mine eyes the way toward the north, and behold
northward at the gate of the altar this image of
jealousy in the entry.
[6] He said furthermore unto me, Son of man, seest thou what they do?
even the great abominations that the house of Israel committeth here, that I
should go far off from my sanctuary? but turn thee yet again, and thou shalt see
greater abominations.
[7] And he brought me to the door of the court; and when I looked,
behold a hole in the wall.
[8] Then said he unto me, Son of man, dig now in the wall: and when I
had digged in the wall, behold a door.
[9] And he said unto me, Go in, and behold the wicked abominations that
they do here.
[10] So I went in and saw; and behold every form of creeping things, and
abominable beasts, and all the idols of the house of Israel, pourtrayed upon
the wall round about.
[11] And there stood before them seventy men of the ancients of the
house of Israel, and in the midst of them stood Jaazaniah the son of Shaphan,
with every man his censer in his hand; and a thick cloud of incense went up.
[12] Then said he unto me, Son of man, hast thou seen what the ancients
of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in the chambers of his
imagery? for they say, The LORD seeth us not; Yehovah hath forsaken the earth.
[13] He said also unto me, Turn thee yet again, and thou shalt see greater
abominations that they do.
[14] Then he brought me to the door of the gate of Yehovah's house which
was toward the north; and, behold, there sat women
weeping for Tammuz.
[15] Then said he unto me, Hast thou seen this, O son of man? turn thee
yet again, and thou shalt see greater abominations than these.
[16] And he brought me into the inner court of Yehovah's house, and,
behold, at the door of the temple of Yehovah, between the porch and the altar,
were about five and twenty men, with their backs toward the temple of Yehovah,
and their faces toward the east; and they worshipped the sun toward the east.
[17] Then he said unto me, Hast thou seen this, O son of man? Is it a
light thing to the house of Judah that they commit the abominations which they
commit here? for they have filled the land with violence, and have returned to
provoke me to anger: and, lo, they put the branch to their nose.
[18] Therefore will I also deal in fury: mine eye shall not spare,
neither will I have pity: and though they cry in mine ears with a loud voice,
yet will I not hear them.

[1] Thou shalt not
raise a false report: put not thine hand with the wicked to be an unrighteous
witness.
[2] Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil;
neither shalt thou speak in a cause to decline after many to wrest judgment:
[3] Neither shalt thou countenance a poor man in his cause.

--------------
[1] Verily, verily, I
say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth
up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.
[2] But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.
[3] To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he
calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.
[4] And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he
goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.
[5] And a stranger will they not follow, but will
flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.
[6] This parable spake Yeshua unto them: but they understood not what
things they were which he spake unto them.
[7] Then said Yeshua unto them again, Verily,
verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.
[8] All that ever came before me are thieves
and robbers: but the sheep did not hear
them.
[9] I am the door: by me if any man
enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
[10] The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to
kill, and to destroy:
I am come that
they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
[11] I am the good shepherd: the good
shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
[12] But he that is an hireling, and not the
shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the
sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.
[13] The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling,
and careth not for the sheep.
[14] I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and
am known of mine.
[15] As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the
Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.
[16] And other sheep I have, which are not of this
fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be
one fold, and one shepherd.
[17] Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that
I might take it again.
[18] No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power
to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I
received of my Father.
[19] There was a division therefore again among the Jews for these
sayings.
[20] And many of them said, He hath a devil, and is mad; why hear ye
him?
[21] Others said, These are not the words of him that hath a devil. Can
a devil open the eyes of the blind?
[22] And it was at Jerusalem the feast of the
dedication (of the Temple), and it was winter. (around February)
[23] And Yeshua walked in the temple in
Solomon's porch.
[24] Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, How long
dost thou make us to doubt? If thou be the Messiah, tell us plainly.
[25] Yeshua answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works
that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me.
[26] But ye believe not, because ye are not
of my sheep, as I said unto you.
[27] My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and
they follow me:
[28] And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither
shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
[29] My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to
pluck them out of my Father's hand.
[30] I and my Father are one.
[31] Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.
[32] Yeshua answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my
Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?
[33] The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not;
but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.
[34] Yeshua answered them, Is it not written in
your law, I said, Ye are gods?
[35] If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture
cannot be broken;
[36] Say ye of him, whom
the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because
I said, I am the Son of God?
[37] If I do not the works
of my Father, believe me not.
[38] But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may
know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him.
[39] Therefore they sought again to take him: but he escaped out of their hand,
[40] And went away again beyond Jordan into the place where John at
first baptized; and there he abode.
[41] And many resorted unto him, and said, John did no miracle: but all
things that John spake of this man were true.
[42] And many believed on him there.
-------------
[1] After these things
Yeshua shewed himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias; and on
this wise shewed he himself.
[2] There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and
Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two other of his
disciples.
[3] Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We
also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and
that night they caught nothing.
[4] But when the morning was now come, Yeshua
stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was Yeshua.
[5] Then Yeshua saith unto them, Children, have ye
any meat? They answered him, No.
[6] And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship,
and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it
for the multitude of fishes.
[7] Therefore that disciple whom Yeshua loved saith unto Peter, It is the Lord.
Now when Simon Peter heard
that it was the Lord, he girt his fisher's coat unto him, (for he was naked,)
and did cast himself into the sea.
[8] And the other disciples came in a little ship; (for they were not
far from land, but as it were two hundred cubits,) dragging the net with
fishes.
[9] As soon then as they were come to land, they saw a fire of coals
there, and fish laid thereon, and bread.
[10] Yeshua saith unto them, Bring of the fish which ye have now caught.
[11] Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land full of great fishes,
and hundred and fifty and three: and for all there were so many, yet was not
the net broken.
[12] Yeshua saith unto them, Come and dine.
And none of the disciples durst ask him, Who art thou? knowing that it was the Lord.
[13] Yeshua then cometh, and taketh bread, and
giveth them, and fish likewise.
[14] This is now the third time that Yeshua shewed
himself to his disciples, after that he was risen from the dead.
[15] So when they had dined, Yeshua saith to
Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He
saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.
[16] He saith to him again the second time, Simon,
son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest
that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep.
[17] He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son
of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto
him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest
all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Yeshua saith unto him, Feed my sheep.
[18] Verily, verily, I say unto thee,
When thou wast young, thou girdedst thyself, and walkedst whither thou
wouldest: but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and
another shall gird thee, and carry thee whither thou wouldest not.
[19] This spake he,
signifying by what death he should glorify God.
And when he had spoken this, he saith unto him,
Follow me.
