A short recap
The last study of 2019 on the first day of the 10th
month Teveth
First, a recap
of 2019 studies / talks below - 59
Not
counting the last study today, no. 60, in total
Here is the list:
Keeping a
balance:
Being
temperate, moderate
Lev.19
[36] Just balances, just
weights, a just ephah, and a just hin, shall ye have: I am Yehovah your God,
which brought you out of the land of Egypt.
Hin: an ancient Hebrew unit of liquid measure
equal to about one and one half gallons (5.7 liters).
Prov.11
[1] A false balance is abomination to Yehovah: but a just
weight is his delight.
Prov.16 [11] A just weight and balance are Yehovah’s: all the weights of the
bag are his work.
Prov.20 [23] Divers weights are an abomination unto Yehovah;
and a false balance is not good.
Ecc. 7 [17] Be not over much wicked, neither be thou foolish:
why shouldest thou die before thy time.
2 Cor.6
[14] Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers:
for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? 15] And what concord hath Messiah with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?[16] And what agreement hath the temple of God with
idols?
For ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will
be their God, and they shall be my people.[17] Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye
separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean
thing; and I will receive you,[18] And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and
daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
Moderation: restraint; avoidance of extremes or excesses; temperance.
Phil.4
[5] Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at
hand.
Sound
scriptural advice:
Tit.1
[1] Paul, a servant
of God, and an apostle of Yeshua the Messiah,
according to the faith of God's elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which
is after godliness;
[2] In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before
the world began;
[3] But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is
committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Savior;[4] To Titus, mine own son after the common faith:
Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Yeshua
the Messiah our Savior.
[5] For this cause
left I thee in Crete, that thou should set in order the things that are
wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee:
[6] If any be
blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of
riot or unruly.
[7] For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not self-willed,
not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;[8] But a lover of
hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate;
[9] Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be
able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.
[10] For there are
many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision:
[11] Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching
things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake.
[12] One of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said,
The Cretians (from Crete, an island in the Mediterranean)
are always liars, evil beasts, slow bellies. (Inactive, that is, unemployed; (by implication, lazy, useless, idle, slow.)
[13] This witness is
true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith;
[14] Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn
from the truth.
[15] Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and
unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.[16] They profess that they know God; but in works
they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work
reprobate.
Tit.2
[1] But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:
[2] That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity,
in patience.
[3] The aged women likewise, that they be in behavior as becomes holiness,
not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;[4] That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their
husbands, to love their children,
[5] To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good,
obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.
[6] Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded.
[7] In all
things showing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine showing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity,
[8] Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that
is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.
[9] Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own
masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again;
[10] Not purloining (steal), but showing all good fidelity (Faithfulness
to obligations, duties, or observances.); that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior
in all things.
[11] For the
grace of God that brings salvation hath appeared to all men,
[12] Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly
lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
[13] Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious
appearing of the great God and our Savior Yeshua the
Messiah;
[14] Who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us
from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good
works.
[15] These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all
authority. Let no man despise thee.
1Cor.9… temperate in all things…
Temperate: moderate or
self-restrained; not extreme in opinion, statement, etc., moderate as regards
indulgence of appetite or passion, especially in the use of alcoholic liquors.
Some events
of the 10th month Teveth
Gen.8
[5] And the waters
decreased continually until the tenth
month: in the tenth month, on the
first day of the month, were the tops of the mountains seen.
2Kgs.25 [1] And it came to pass in the ninth year of his
reign, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came, he, and all his host,
against Jerusalem, and pitched against it; and they built forts against it round about.[2] And the city was besieged unto the eleventh
year of king Zedekiah.
Jer.39
[1] In the ninth
year of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the
tenth month, came Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon
and all his army against Jerusalem, and they beseiged
it.
Jer.52
[4] And it came to pass in the ninth
year of his reign, in the tenth month, in the tenth
day of the month, that Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon
came, he and all his army, against Jerusalem, and pitched against it, and built
forts against it round about.
Ezek.24
[1] Again in the
ninth year, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, the word of Yehovah came unto me, saying,[2] Son of man, write
thee the name of the day, even of this same day: the king of Babylon set
himself against Jerusalem this same day.
Ezek. 33 [21] And it came to pass in the twelfth year of our
captivity, in the tenth month, in the fifth day of the month, that one that had escaped out
of Jerusalem came unto me, saying, The city is smitten.
A few verses pertaining to: “remembering”
1Cor.4
[17] For this cause have I sent unto you Timotheus, who is my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord,
who shall bring you into remembrance of my ways which be in Messiah, as I teach
every where in every church.
1Cor.11 [24] And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat:
this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.[25] After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped,
saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as often as ye
drink it, in remembrance of Me.
Gal.2 [10] Only they would that we should remember the poor; the same
which I also was forward to do.
Eph.2 [11] Wherefore remember, that ye
being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision
by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands; [12] That at that time ye were without Messiah, being aliens
from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise,
having no hope, and without God in the world:[13] But now in Messiah Yeshua
ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Messiah.
Col.4 [18] The salutation by the hand of me Paul. Remember my bonds. Grace be with you. Amen.
1Thes.1[2] We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of
you in our prayers; [3] Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour
of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Yeshua the Messiah, in the sight of God and our Father;
1Thes.2[9] For ye remember, brethren, our labor and travail: for laboring night and day,
because we would not be chargeable unto any of you, we preached unto you the
gospel of God.
1Thes.3[6] … and that
ye have good remembrance of us always, desiring
greatly to see us, as we also to see you:
2Tim.1[3] I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure
conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee
in my prayers night and day; [4] Greatly desiring to see thee, being mindful of
thy tears, that I may be filled with joy;[5] When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that
is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother
Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.[6] Wherefore
I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the
gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.
2Tim.2[8] Remember that Yeshua the Messiah of the seed
of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel…
[14] Of these things put them in remembrance, charging
them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting
of the hearers.
Heb.13[3] Remember them that are in bonds, as bound
with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the
body.
[7] Remember them which
have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow,
considering the end of their conversation.
2Pet.1
[12] Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the
present truth.[13] Yea, I think it meet, as long as I
am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance; [14] Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle,
even as our Lord Yeshua the Messiah hath showed me.[15] Moreover I
will endeavor that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always
in remembrance. [16]
For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you
the power and coming of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
[17] For he received from God the Father honor and glory, when
there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved
Son, in whom I am well pleased.
[18] And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we
were with him in the holy mount.
[19] We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do
well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shines in a dark place, until the
day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
[20] Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of
any private interpretation.
[21] For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man:
but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
2Pet.3
[1] This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both
which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:
[2] That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken
before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the
Lord and Savior:
[3] Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days
scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
[4] And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as
they were from the beginning of the creation.
[5] For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word
of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in
the water:
[6] Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with
water, perished:
[7] But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same
word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and
perdition of ungodly men.
[8] But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one
day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
[9] The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men
count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should
perish, but that all should come to repentance.
[10] But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night;
in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great
noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the
works that are therein shall be burned up.
[11] Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what
manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
[12] Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God,
wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall
melt with fervent heat?
[13] Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new
heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth
righteousness.
[14] Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be
diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.
[15] And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is
salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given
unto him hath written unto you;
[16] As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these
things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are
unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their
own destruction.
[17] Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before,
beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from
your own steadfastness.
[18] But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior
Yeshua the Messiah. To him be glory both
now and forever. Amen.
Jude.1
[1] Jude, the servant of Yeshua the Messiah, and brother of James, to them that are sanctified by God the Father,
and preserved in Yeshua the Messiah, and called:
[2] Mercy unto you, and peace, and love, be multiplied.
[3] Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the
common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that
ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the
saints.
[4] For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were
before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of
our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Yeshua the Messiah.
[5] I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once
knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt,
afterward destroyed them that believed not.
[6] And the angels who kept not their first estate, but left
their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness
unto the judgment of the great day.
[7] Even as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities about them in
like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange
flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.
[8] Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh,
despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities.
[9] Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil
he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing
accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.
[10] But these speak evil of those things which they know not:
but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt
themselves.
[11] Woe unto them! for they have gone
in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and
perished in the gainsaying of Core.
[12] These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast
with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water,
carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth,
without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;
[13] Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame;
wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness forever.
[14] And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these,
saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,
[15] To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are
ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly
committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken
against him.
[16] These are murmurers, complainers,
walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaks great swelling words,
having men's persons in admiration because of advantage.
[17] But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken
before of the apostles of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah;
[18] How that they told you there should be mockers in the last
time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.
[19] These be they who separate
themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.
[20] But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy
faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,
[21] Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy
of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah unto eternal life.
[22] And of some have compassion, making a difference:
[23] And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire;
hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.
[24] Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to
present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,[25] To the only wise God our Savior, be glory and majesty,
dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.
1Tim.4
[1] Now the Spirit speaketh
expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving
heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
[2] Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared
with a hot iron;
[3] Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats,
which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe
and know the truth.
[4] For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be
refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
[5] For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
[6] If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things,
thou shalt be a good minister of Yeshua the Messiah, nourished up in the words of faith and of good
doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.
[7] But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.
[8] For bodily exercise profits little: but godliness is
profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that
which is to come.
[9] This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation.
[10] For therefore we both labor and suffer reproach, because we
trust in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of those that
believe.
[11] These things command and teach.
[12] Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the
believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
[13] Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to
doctrine.
[14] Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee
by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery. (Elders)
[15] Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them;
that thy profiting may appear to all.
[16] Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in
them: for in doing this you shall both save thyself, and them that hear you.
